Why wasn't this implemented the first time around? Also, John Peace, as I understand it, has been asking the SB for documentation of how the $15 million provided by the county has been spent, and he has requested this for one year. I wonder why they haven't provided that information.

Very good questions indeed.

I don't think they entered into the project in the proper manner, i.e., asking the right questions in order to arrive at a feasible solution.

As for Mr. Pease's questions, I believe that was also addressed in the Coalfield Progress today. Something about it would require an incredible amount of extra work on the school administration's part in order to provide a breakdown. Thus, under the Freedom of Information Act, the request could be refused.

The bottom line is that both Boards are going to have to work much better together if this problem is ever going to be dealt with successfully.

It doesn't matter if Wise County renovates or builds new schools it will have to raise taxes to cover the expense, and for me I am not a believer in Mr. Flanary or the people for Consolidation. Consolidation will not save money in the long run. Just look at Lee County. They still have a mess down in that County. I did not agree with several comments he made in his article and I am sure the majority of Pound, Appalachia, and St. Paul will not agree with them either. Everyone seems to forget all the money that is made from the Coal that comes out of Appalachia. Sure Mr. Flanary may pay a little more on his property tax, but he chose to leave good old Appalachia to live in BSG, and you can tell he has been living down in the Gap for a few years because he forgot what the word loyalty means. It seems when most people move to BSG from Appalachia they think they are better than the people that live in Appalachia. Well in this case I rank Mr. Flanary in the same boat as Mr. Caldwell which is not at the top of my list.

Same crap from a supposedly smart person. He may have grew up in Appalachia but he isn't no Dawg. That library isn't needed, they can get books at other libraries or off the internet. And as long as we don't have to fix the school up for no disabled person, why should we? None of them do anything for us but make us change the way things are anyhow.

Ole Flanary mentions a car, well he needs to realize that Appalachia is a classic. You don't destroy a classic, you take care of it. You baby it. We all know that all the money from the county comes from Appalachia with the coal. Oh sure there may not be much in the way of businesses or much in the way of property taxes but all that don't matter. Its sad that so many try to act like we don't contribute a dime but hey all the money I get provided to me is taxed and those taxes should be more than enough to keep a school open.

I do not get on here and say much one way or another about consolidation and I am really not sure how I feel about it but the above comment may have to rank as the most uncaring and most asinine comment I have ever seen on here.

What do they do? Nothing. I got nothing against no handicaped person at all but they could just home school them. It be easier on everybody.

You cannot be from Appalachia there is no way. You are someone that wants to make sure that Appy looks bad. You really cannot believe those statements.
